Ben Margetson


Starting at Cardiff City Academy’s prep squad at age 7, Ben’s football journey saw him progress through the ranks, earning a two-year scholarship at 16 and a professional contract at 18. He was called up to Wales’ U21 squad and later joined Swansea City, where he made his U21 debut. A mid-season move to Bromley led to FA Trophy success, followed by a stint with Kidderminster Harriers, contributing to their promotion to the National League. Returning home, Ben signed for Pontypridd United and began his coaching journey, completing his UEFA A Licence in May 2024. He now plays for Barry Town United.

Sam Westhead


Sam Westhead has been involved in academy football since the age of 8. From Yorkshire, he spent 8 years at Scunthorpe United academy and from the age of 18 has played semi-professional football in England and Wales. He is currently Pontypridd United’s U19s head coach and is also a part time coach at Cardiff City academy. Sam is a passionate individual who has a real hunger for player development and is currently a masters student at University of South Wales studying advanced performance football coaching.

Owain Jones


Since the age of 9, Owain has been a part of Swansea City’s academy. During his time at Swansea, Owain successfully achieved a scholarship & professional contract with his boyhood club. He would also go on to represent Wales at U17-U21 level achieving over 20 caps for his country. Owain has played semi-professional football in England & Wales and has had successful spells at all clubs contributing to important goals as a striker. Owain currently holds the UEFA C licence qualification and is eager to help the next generation reach their goals through his vast experience in the game.
